MTMIS not working - woman checking phone by a broken car

Is MTMIS not working for you? If the portal does not open, or it shows “no record found” for your vehicle, the cause is usually one of a handful of common issues. Work through the checks below before assuming something is seriously wrong.

1. Check the registration-number format and try again

Most “no record found” results come from a typing mistake. Recheck the registration number exactly as it appears on your number plate and registration documents — including the correct letters, digits, and spacing — and submit again.

2. Your registration or transfer may not be complete yet

A brand-new registration may not appear in the online record yet. The same applies while the department is still processing your ownership transfer. If you recently bought the vehicle or applied for registration, allow the process to complete first.

3. The portal may not show recent data yet

The online record can lag behind the department’s internal updates. If you completed your registration or transfer very recently, wait a few days and check again.

4. MTMIS not working: the portal may be down for maintenance

Like any government portal, MTMIS can go offline for maintenance or suffer temporary outages. If the page does not load at all, wait and retry later instead of submitting the form repeatedly.

5. The record may still be under the previous owner

After a sale, the online record keeps showing the previous owner until the department completes the ownership transfer. If you bought a used vehicle and the record still shows the seller, the department has not finalized the transfer yet.

6. Try the SMS verification method

As an alternative to the website, you can verify a vehicle by SMS. Our bike-verification guide already covers SMS verification to 8785 step by step: Bike Verification in Punjab: How to Check a Motorcycle’s Registration on MTMIS.

Frequently asked questions

Q: The portal loads but shows no record for my car. What should I do?
A: First recheck the number format, then consider whether the registration or transfer is still in process, and try again after a few days.

Q: MTMIS is not opening at all. Is it blocked?
A: It is most likely temporary maintenance or a connection issue on the portal’s side. Retry later, and do not use unofficial “mirror” sites.

Q: My bike shows no record but my documents are complete. What now?A: Try the SMS method to 8785 that our bike-verification guide covers, and contact the official Excise helplines if the problem persists.
